AI Coding Tools I’m Exploring
I’m diving deep into AI-powered coding tools to see how they can help developers like you and me. Below, you’ll find my take on tools like Cursor, Windsurf, Replit, Bolt.new, Lovable, and Tempo. Each one has its strengths, and I’ll share what I’ve learned so you can pick the right tool for your next project.
Cursor
Cursor: Advanced AI coding for complex projects
Cursor is built for developers who need flexibility and control. I love its AI agent that helps with open-ended tasks, making it perfect for tackling big, messy projects.
Windsurf
Windsurf: Flexible AI coding with agent support
Windsurf is all about flows. It’s great for iterative development, and its AI Cascade agent is a game-changer for exploratory coding. Great MCP extendibility.
Replit
Replit: AI-powered deployment + IDE + tools + agent
Replit makes app development easy with its built-in tools and AI support. I use it for quick prototypes and quick deployment. It also has database, storage and auth support.
Lovable
Lovable: No-code app building with AI
Lovable is ideal for non-technical users. I find it super easy to prototype apps without writing a single line of code. It has very handy integrations to kickstart a project.
Bolt.new
Bolt.new: AI-driven coding in your browser
Bolt.new is my go-to for fast, browser-based coding. It’s simple, accessible, and perfect for beginners or quick builds. It also supports Expo for native mobile apps.
Tempo
Tempo: Seamless design-to-code with AI
Tempo’s Figma-like integration is a lifesaver for turning designs into functional code. It’s great for projects with clear specs. A much more visual approach to AI no-code building.
